Vampires have come "out of the coffin" and joined human society// Sookie meets Bill Compton when he walks into Merlotte's, the bar where she works// that night she saves him from a couple of vampire-drainers, the Rattrays, who trap him with silver chains out in the parking lot//Sookie is delighted to find she can NOT read a Vampire's mind- it's so relaxing!!// she dreams of him that night// a woman named Maudette is murdered/ Sookie's brother, Jason, is questioned because he'd been with Maudette- on videotape!!// Gran wonders if Bill would speak to her "Descendants of the Glorious Dead" civil war group, about life back in those days, so Sookie must ask him// she asks him to meet her after work, but the Rattrays are waiting for her instead.

Jason is again the main suspect for Dawn's murder// Sookie is anxious to clear him, so "listens in" on folks to see if she can figure out who's the killer// most people think he did it and/or the girls deserved it for "being with" vamps// Sookie asks Bill to take her to Fangtasia to ask if the girls were seen there// Bill takes her, she meets Eric and Pam and alerts them to an imminent police raid// Bill glamours a cop who pulls them over on the way home (I LOVED his line to the cop.."I'm a man of few words"..even tho not in the book, that is a classic sum-up of Bill- in nine books so far!!)// note from cam: okay, this (True Blood's) Bill is SO perfect that I promise (mostly) to quit whining about the book version, and his-eyes-are-supposed-to-be-brown B.S. ...he's completely wowed me, officially, with his beautiful cold voice and soft Southern accent...you, go, Bill!

this time, Bill tells Sookie HE won't be calling on HER again (she was critical of his music and lifestyle!!- come on Sook, that Cambodian music was GOOD!!)// at work, Sookie mentions that her Fangtasia experience put her off seeing Bill anymore// Sam asks her to go to the DGD meeting that night (with him) // Bill speaks at the meeting- he's great (seeing this scene was BETTER than in the book- I'll give credit when due!!) // Sheriff Dearborn and Det. the gang at Merlotte's is not overjoyed when Sookie mentions she is now with Bill// while Bill gets rid of perv uncle Bartlett, the Monroe vamps come into Merlotte's to terrorize the civilians// Bill stops them, by agreeing to leave with them- ew!!// Sookie hears angry men talking about burning the vamps' house, and leaves warning messages on Bill's phone, but doesn't hear back// next morning, Sookie sees that his resting place is empty, and the vamps' burned-out house contained 4 coffins with unrecognizable remains// she fears the worst.

that night, Sookie brings flowers and cries over Bill's grave; then he rises// he'd gotten her message to "stay safe" and went to ground// Bill looks really good in dirt!!// Bill helps Sookie babysit Arlene's kids, and is really sweet with them.// Rene proposes to Arlene while they are out// Jason and Amy kidnap Eddie, a weak newby vampire, to drain him// Eric requests that Bill bring Sookie to Fangtasia to do him a favor... "Honestly,...did you think you could keep her to yourself?"

Rene attacks Sookie at her home in midday, she runs out to the graveyard// Sam comes to her aid in dog-form// Bill tries to get to her, but burns to a crisp in the sun// Sookie, beaten and half-strangled, kills Rene with a shovel// Sam buries Bill to get him out of the sun// that night, the doorbell rings...it's Bill, healed// Sookie invites him back into her house and her life.// note from cam: i loved the way they did the attack scene, but i'm afraid Sookie doesn't get her true measure across in the show..she got NO help from Sam or Bill in the book, severely wounded the killer herself, and while she was in the hospital, Bill visited her, but Eric sent the best flower arrangement, and flew by her window, and waved!! She's such a strong woman character, i just want people to admire her, not think she's a little damsel in distress!! okay, okay, i said i MOSTLY would shut up!

Andy Bellefleur's car// Sookie finally finds out about Jessica..."Bill, what else are you keeping from me??"...(note from cam: when Bill looks back and says "Nothing"...that was his chance to come clean, but he couldn't take it...made me cry) // Lafayette and other suspected "crimes-against-vampires" people are being kept in some dungeon in chains// flashbacks show Sam's past run-in with MaryAnn// Uncle Bartlett's body is found, an accidental drowning, and Sookie gives her inheritance to Jason// Jason wants to go to a FotS training camp, and the money will pay his way- don't drink the Koolaid, Jase!!// Sookie confronts Bill about Bartlett's death...Bill is not sorry, and swears ... "I love you"..right out loud// Eric comes down into the dungeon to take a prisoner up for questioning about the fire that killed Malcolm and co.// the guy fights back with a silver cross to Eric's face (not his FACE, you idiot!!), and Eric shows what a vampire can do when very provoked, as Lafayette watches in horror.

On the way back from Jessica's old house, Bill and Sookie have a fight, and she storms out of the car// a weird creature attacks Sookie, slashing her back// Bill brings Sookie to Fangtasia, where she's treated by a "supe" doctor, Dr. Ludwig// When Sookie wakes up, she feels better, but finds out about Lafayette, being held in the basement, and wants to free him// Sookie makes a new deal with Eric -after slapping him!! Eric seems to be even more pleased with her after getting hit; "may I tell you how well that color suits you?"(note from cam:...as a book-fan, this was a real biggy moment in the show for me- it shows how Sookie will be with Eric, bossy and physical...good luck, darling Eric!!) // Hoyt finally meets a nice girl- Jessica!!// Bill and Sookie bring a wounded Lafayette home.

Sookie is pleased to meet Barry the Bellboy, another telepath, but Barry is NOT so pleased// Bill is very worried about "losing" Sookie, and acts a little clingy// Jessica calls Hoyt on the phone// a very subdued Lafayette asks for his job back// Jason is "rewarded" for his hard work at the Light of Day boot camp- by Sarah!!// Sookie has the idea to go undercover to the Fellowship, to see if they have Godric prisoner// Bill hates the idea, but Eric thinks it's a plan, then Eric tells Bill why he cares so much about retrieving Godric (note from cam: even tho this is NOT the same "origin" story of Eric's being made Vampire as the book (#9 in series) i actually preferred this one a lot, and LOVED this version of Godric!!) ..."Could you be a companion of Death...??"

Sookie goes with Isabel's human, Hugo, to the Fellowship of the Sun church; they pretend they want to join, but the Newlins are onto them from the start- there's a traitor in the Dallas-vamps' nest// Hugo and Sookie are locked into the basement, while Jason and Luke are up building the gallows where Godric will "meet the sun"// Bill feels Sookie's fear, wakens, and is immobilized by a-blast-from-the-past- his maker, Lorena// Lorena has been called by Eric, to distract Bill from Sookie// note from cam: in this ep, there's a very cute, bored Eric feeding from an actress, and just NOT getting into it, and a horrible flashback of Bill and Lorena in their Roaring Twenties days...the hand-writing is on the wall: the writers are trying to make me harden my heart away from Bill, and love Eric (I already DO, from 9 books, okay??), but for the record, I steadfastly LOVE this Bill, and blame only Lorena for any dreadful deeds they committed!! lol// Sarah and Jason rendezvous in the church, abstinence never WAS his style// Hoyt drives to Dallas to see Jessica (very cute story-line).

Sam escapes Maryann and her minions (by flying away as an owl- very kewl!)// Sookie tries to communicate with Barry the bellboy, using her telepathic powers, telling him to get her vamps- she's in trouble// Bill is held captive by his ex, Lorena, who's stronger and faster than him; he can't go to Sookie, tho he knows she needs him// Jason tries to go home from the Fellowship of the Sun, but gets caught and grabbed by Steve and his enforcer Gabe (this was funny, Jason thinks it's because of him and Sarah hooking up, but it's really because they found out Sookie's last name from the traitor, Hugo.) // Hoyt and Jessica find they have a lot in common.// Barry comes through for Sookie, relaying her message.

(and Bill, you didn't say any attraction to YOU was from the blood bond, so let's cut Eric a little slack!)// // Sookie and Jason talk over their adventures and make their peace// Sookie has a 'first' dream of kissing Eric, while sleeping next to Bill, OOPS (in the dream, Eric tells her "this is our beginning...")// Lafayette and Lettie Mae stage an intervention to get Tara away from MaryAnn (GREAT!!)// Sam escapes from jail, and goes to find Andy// Eric pleads with Godric - don't end your life and/or let me die with you; Godric refuses his childe's requests, kindly,("Father, Brother, Son," he reminds the already-grieving Eric..."Let me go.") and orders him away, and only Sookie stands weeping as Godric meets the sun.// note from cam: okay, this episode is where Eric showed the TV viewers that he's always been the "main guy" in the books; he was superb...

Sookie and Jason return to Bon Temps, with Bill in his coffin, only to find the place a shambles, the people gone mad// Jessica and Hoyt have been dealing with his mom, who was also affected by the madness (they kept her at Bill's house, out of trouble)// Sam and Andy are lured back to Merlottes by Arlene, and soon are beset by bloodthirsty "zombies" (but as Sam tells Andy, "We CAN'T kill them; they're our friends and neighbors!" Andy adds "and cousins!"// Jason comes in with a chainsaw and nailgun and somehow saves the day, for a while// Bill and Sookie confront Maryann; Bill bites her, and finds her venomous to him// Sookie pushes her away with her hand to the maenad's face, and....something happens!! light flares, Maryann falls back, delighted..."What are you?"// Bill and Sookie go to Lafayette's house, and work with helping Tara out of the darkness// Bill knows a vampire who might know how to deal with MaryAnn, and goes to ask for info- "I'll be back by dawn."// note from cam: ok, i had to make phone calls after Sookie "pushed" MaryAnn...no hint of this til book #8.....the show's NOT going to make us wait for some of the kewlest story-lines!!...including where Bill was at the end of the show...will Sophie-Ann ask him how his "project" is going?? and wasn't it great how Sook's first instinct was to call Eric for help, when Bill got poisoned?? and didn't Bill look FINE walking into the Queen's house??

(that scene was "top of the charts" for this season) // Bill and Eric have a run-in in New Orleans at Sophie-Ann's house..and Eric mentions Bill's hypocrisy about Eric giving Sookie blood, since Bill did it when he first met her.( thank you, Eric, i couldn't believe he had the nerve to complain, either!!)// Bill goes off to find an appropriate sacrifice for the maenad- SAM!!// Sookie is captured by MaryAnn (I am SO tired of MaryAnn's story--more Bill and Sookie and Eric!!- or Sookie can just dream for us some more- thanx, Sook!!)

Sookie is being forced to participate in MaryAnn's ritual//Bill brings Sam to MaryAnn trade him for Sookie// it works; she hands Sookie over, then proceeds to sacrifice Sam// Bill tells Sookie to use her gift, and her actions stop the ceremony; when MaryAnn chases her, a giant Angus bull appears and puts a halt to the madness// Bill is severely weakened from helping Sam recover his wound// Eric is playing Yahtzee with the queen and Hadley and Ludis during this time...he sucks at it (that vampire joke just never gets old, lol)// The queen pulls rank on Eric, showing her absolute power even over a Vampire as old as he, but questions about why she is supplying humans with V, (through Eric-Lafayette, and possibly others) are NOT answered in this ep, but the picture of Eric looking dazedly down at his stupid Yahtzee throw is supposed to hold us over til next year. (note from cam: i DID like that Sophie Ann told Eric he should never taste Sookie's blood, because he might become enthralled to her, like Bill...she seems to know lots about Sookie)// Bill invites Sookie out for a fancy dinner date, to celebrate// Jessica decides to go apologize to Hoyt// when Bill and Jessica are both leaving the house for the evening, it's a really sweet, hopeful scene for both of them, all dressed up and going to meet their significant others....but the best-laid plans of Vamps and Men often go awry.....

(note from cam: i'm off to re-read Club Dead...don't forget the Sookie collected short stories are coming out soon...i already ordered mine on Amazon, and next May, book 10 comes out...i can NOT wait...i am an avid reader, but this series has made me love it more than any in a long time...yes, LeStat, i AM thinking of you when i say this, but you are NOT replaced, merely have more company in my treasured library of favorite Vamps....)
